Some days I sit and wonder how I ended up this way, And why just when I feel that Peace, it so soon fades away, It seems that all things crumble, never left instead to stay, And when I reach my end, you lift your head, look up and say: “This world can be your kingdom, if you want, then take it all, The power’s in your hands to make your problems all be solved, And if your heart decides to answer to a different call, Then please remember me, and please don’t leave me here to fall.” I search the world around, not knowing what I’m looking for, The times I find a taste, I find I’m left begging for more, And every time that I collapse, colliding with the floor, You rush right to my side, and grab my hand as you implore: “This world can be your kingdom, if you want, then take it all, But until that day, with you I swear that I shall crawl, And when the day arrives you find yourself standing so tall, Then please remember me, and please don’t ever let me fall.” In time I watch you slip away, observe as you deny, Every time I mention, from your lips escape a sigh, Of course you know how hard it is to watch a lover cry, And though I know not what to say, I will give it a try: “This world can be your kingdom, if you want then take it all, The power’s in your hands to make your problems all be solved, And even if the world has forced me to a lowly crawl, You have my solemn word that I will never let you fall.”
