I saw a shadow last night Not the kind you see on walls It lived in three dimensions And through the air it crawled It had no face or features But its outline was so clear It caused me to be frightened And paralyzed with fear My eyes, they flickered rapidly And rolled up in my head The shadow stood there firmly And then to me it said: “I’ve come here to prevent you From the work that you must do So if you will now kindly Let me have control of you-” I interrupted it right then By letting go of fear And as I was released I watched the shadow disappear And as it left I quickly then Sat up within my bed And I was left to wonder “Was it all just in my head?”
